Day 1: Johannesburg - Timbavati Lodge / Best African SafariAfter an early meet and greet and a short tour briefing, we depart Johannesburg, heading in a north easterly direction, we travel via the panoramic route to view the awe inspiring Three Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and the Blyde River Canyon, (Third Largest canyon in the world). Own expense lunch in the historical town of Pilgrims Rest. Our accommodation is booked at the Timbavati Safari Lodge. Only 12km from The National Park gate. On arrival in the afternoon, we enjoy a welcome drink and some time to relax before a typical South African feast! Day 2: Timbavati Safari Lodge / Best African SafariWe rise with the dawn to a quick cup of coffee and rusks and set off to the Park’s Orpen gate. Our breakfast packs will be enjoyed at one of the many picnic sites in the park. The morning will be spent searching for the Big 5 and numerous bird and animal species that Kruger is home to. Todays lunch stop is at Satara Camp, before we head out of the park and back to Timbavati Safari Lodge. The afternoon can be laid back next to the pool or an optional visit to the Kapama cheetah rehabilitation centre for a close up encounter with these majestic animals. After an early dinner we head out on a night drive in search of the predators like the Leopard and Lion - active under the cover darkness! Day 3: Timbavati Safari Lodge. / Best African SafariSunrise again heralds the beginning of a new day and another excursion into the Kruger Park to look for the animals not yet spotted. In the late afternoon we depart for ThornyBush private game lodge, also home to the Big 5 where we will have a sun downer game drive in an open land rover game viewing vehicle. Back at the Timbavati Boma, a delicious traditional braai dinner will be prepared and we spend the evening around the camp fire, entertained by tribal dancing under star studded skies. Day 4, 5: Swaziland. / Best African SafariA new day, a new country and another stamp in our passports! Today’s journey takes us into the Kingdom of Swaziland, well known for their colourful culture, friendly people, spectacular scenery and bustling craft markets. We are based at, Mantenga Lodge in the Ezulwini valley for two nights. Here we have the chance to visit craft markets, swazi candles factory, game drives or walks in one of the Big game parks of Swaziland, health and beauty spa’s and cultural village tours. These optional activities are all for your own expense. Day 6, 7: Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game reserve.Returning back into South Africa today, our destination is the Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game reserve. One of the biggest and most successful sanctuaries for the endangered white rhino Our base for the next two nights will be the Hilltop camp. Game drives in search of the black and white rhino and other endemic species to this area will occupy most of our time in the park, including an evening/night Safari in an open Game viewing vehicle. Day 8, 9: Sodwana BayThis area comprises of long narrow forest covered sand dunes home to few small antelope such as, Suni, Duiker and steenbok as well as bush pig and a wealth of bird life along this beautiful stretch of coastline. This bay is popular to both fishermen and scuba divers. Day 10: Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park.Heading south through massive sugar cane plantations, we make our way to the town of St Lucia. In the afternoon Hippos, Crocodiles, and magnificent birdlife will be spotted from the boat as we cruise down the estuary within the world heritage site. Fresh seafood lures us for dinner before returning to our Guest house to call it a day. Day 11, 12: Drakensburg Mountains.Leaving the guest house after breakfast, we head inland to the Drakensburg escarpment, The barrier of spears. We have a full day to explore bushman paintings, cascading waterfalls and the breathtaking scenery of this amazing mountain wilderness. Day 13: Return to Johannesburg / Best African SafariToday’s schedule allows for a sleep in and a hearty brunch, before returning to Johannesburg in the evening. Day 14: Tour ends – Fly out JohannesburgA 50% deposit is required when booking. Payment of the total tour fare must be made no less than 6 weeks before the tour departure date.
